Little India

When ever I visit a new city with my parents, it is inevitable that we end up in the section of town that can be called ‘little India.’ These areas of town are usually interesting because it really does feel like you are transported to India. This time, I was not sure if I was going to make it to London’s little India, or more commonly, Southall.

But my cousin visited this weekend and she insisted that we go see the area. Southall is pretty amazing and bigger than most Indian areas in US cities. I think it’s also older. This little India is different from the US ones, because it mainly has Punjabis, while the ones in the States usually have Gujratis. The funniest thing we saw was the pub that instead of advertising “Hot Food All Day,” advertised “Hot Tandoori Food All Day.” If we had seen this pub earlier, we would have gone inside. Instead, we went to a chaat house, where I think we scared the people inside with our tourist picture-taking ways.
