This is my own happiness project. I try to do one thing a day that will help me become a happier person.

London randomness

My time in London is ending very soon. By now, I would think, I would have a set schedule and some friends to hang out with. But, it’s still very up in the air.

I had to do a presentation today, and it was kind of exhausting. My group is good, except for one girl. I am not sure what grates about her. I am the only one in my entire group that is a “native English speaker” and I get along fine with the rest of the group. But for some reason, she never seems to understand what we are doing. But anyway…

After class, we ended up working for about two hours. Then I wanted to get a drink, but not necessarily with my group. So I wandered over to the school’s pub. There, I met a Spanish classmate. We debated the different ways to greet people all over the world. In Spain, it is two kisses, in Ukraine, three kisses, in the US, there is a handshake and in India, maybe a handshake. He was trying to convince me that kissing was a superior way of greeting people. I joked with him, “only if it’s a cute girl for him.” After awhile, I spotted an Australian guy that I spoke with briefly during my first few weeks here. He told me a sad tale about trying to ask out a girl, but he wasn’t sure if she had a boyfriend. So, I went up to him and asked him to tell me if he ever asked her out. In the process of him telling me the story, we somehow ended up walking with a bunch of Brazillians and Portuguese people. They were from the school and somehow knew the Australian guy. I decided to walk around with them for a little bit. It was kind of culture shock because no one was speaking English, but when I was paying attention, they tried to only speak in English. They somehow seemed louder and more animated, although they did complain about the American students. Overall, it was an interesting evening with people I may never see again.
