New pictures...soonish?
I forgot about my pictures from London. I can’t believe I was in London only a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, I need to put up photos from my limo ride on the last night. It was crazy and fun.

Back to school
So, it’s been a tough two weeks. In fact, I am surprised that two weeks have passed so quickly. Last week, I spent most of my time sweating and going to orientation. We have a beautiful new building, but there are still some kinks to work out. This week was the first week of classes. I think the second years hype up the work and the stress, and in turn, it gets me a little bit more stressed....

Acknowledging the 70th anniversary of the start of World War II. An interesting perspective of the European vs. US mindset.

Transitioning
I am moving from London to Williamsburg (and not the cool Williamsburg) so I haven’t really had time to update. But my last night in London was fun. A friend of mine rented a limo and had twenty of us pile in and take a tour of London at night. Great way to end a trip. Fast forward to me running like crazy to catch my flight. Everything went well, but along with being jetlagged, I am...

"That's the most beautiful bin in the world!"
My cousin was visiting me in London. I wasn’t allowed to have overnight guests in my room, but I managed to smuggle her into the room. I think it helps that we’re both Indian and young looking. So, we decided on Sunday to visit Camden Market. It was one of those rare London days that the sun was out and it was warm. I kept hearing about Camden Market and how awesome it is. The market...

Bricklane, East London
For most of my time here, I’ve been in West London. It’s known for it’s theatre district and high density of tourists. On Saturday night, I didn’t have much to do, so I called up a Polish friend of mine. She was heading to Liverpool Street and invited me out. I don’t know much about Liverpool Street. I know that’s where the “City” is and that is...

Little India
When ever I visit a new city with my parents, it is inevitable that we end up in the section of town that can be called ‘little India.’ These areas of town are usually interesting because it really does feel like you are transported to India. This time, I was not sure if I was going to make it to London’s little India, or more commonly, Southall. But my cousin visited this...

London randomness
My time in London is ending very soon. By now, I would think, I would have a set schedule and some friends to hang out with. But, it’s still very up in the air. I had to do a presentation today, and it was kind of exhausting. My group is good, except for one girl. I am not sure what grates about her. I am the only one in my entire group that is a “native English speaker” and I...

British Differences #6
Courtesy of the Australians, by way of France, there is an article that talks about the differences of language between the Australians, Brits and Americans. I’ve encountered a little bit of this. If you say “Do you know where the bathroom is?” in England, either you will encounter a blank stare or they will make fun of you for wanting to take a shower in the middle of the day....

Paris
I went to Paris this weekend on the Eurostar. Although I took the Eurostar last weekend, I was going at a later time and, apparently, a more popular place. It was packed and crowded through out my entire trip. But, again, I arrived in Paris in two hours. I went to visit my friend. She lives in the 11th arrondissement in a 5th floor walk-up. She emphasized that she lived very close to the 3rd...

Different history
A weird thing happened to me when I was on campus. A young, well dressed man approached me and asked me if I was a student. I responded yes, but I wasn’t sure what his motives was. In fact, I kind of felt threatened, but against my better judgement I spoke with him. It’s part of my goal to try different things even if it makes me uncomfortable. “Are you willing to ask a few...

Shakespeare Globe
Today I finally did something I’ve been wanting to do since I reached England: I saw a play at the Shakespeare Globe! My friend and I got “groundling” tickets for the show As You Like It. Groundling tickets are the cheapest tickets, at 5 pounds, but the catch is that you have to stand in a pit at the base of the stage. The stage is set up like it was when Shakespeare was alive....

Treasure Chest
On Monday, I rushed back from Brussels in the morning and arrived with enough time to get to class. Somehow, class took all day. And since I had been up since 5am British time, I was exhausted. At the end of the day, the school had a reception. I met with a few friends and we decided to try a club in London. We went to this place, which looked like a Tiki Bar. It was okay, but I had to pay a...

Late updates: Brussels
Last week was rough. Not only did I do very poorly on an exam, I was fighting a cold. Atleast, I hope it was the cold, but now I am over it. After my exam on Friday, I ran to catch the Eurostar to Brussels. The Eurostar is amazing. I wish they had a Eurostar in the United States. It was clean, efficient and really fast. Unlike flights, where you have to leave the city to catch the flight, the...

Harrods
On Saturday, I went with some very random people to the London Institution of Harrods. I met one of the people in the group at the boat cruise, and he invited me to join the group to an outing to Harrods. There were three students from Singapore, one from India and one from Austria. A very interesting mix. Harrods is a huge department store. It has about six floors of merchandise. Most of the...

Boat Cruise!
One of the events that was most anticipated, was the boat cruise sponsered by the school. It started at the Tower of London and went down the Thames on a four hour round trip of the major sights in London. There was also a disco on the cruise boat! Other than being a little cold and rainy, it cleared up enough to see the Millennium Dome, Houses of Parliment, the “Gherkin” and various...
